2Storyline:
With absent father and a withdrawn and depressed mother, 17-year-old Ree Dolly keeps her family together in a dirt poor rural area. She was shocked but when the local Sheriff tells her father put his house as collateral for fiançai if not presented for trial in a week, lose everything. She knows her father is involved in the local drug trade and manufactures methamphetamine, but where it is not the message is the same: stay out of it and stop interfering in the affairs of other people. She refuses to listen, even after her fathers brother, in the form of tears, tells him that he is probably dead. She drives, putting their lives in danger for the sake of his family until the truth, or enough of it, is revealed.
